Greetings from the CEO
Dr. Angela Robbins speaks with a college student last month at The Ohio State University about internship opportunities at eLearningDOC.
Dear eLearningDOC Community,
As we step into November, I look back at the last month in celebration of the incredible progress we continue to make to fulfill our mission of transforming online learning experiences! Our goal to create engaging, personalized, and social learning environments is more relevant than ever in a digital world of choices and continuously emerging technologies.
An exciting area where we’re seeing strong results is in social learning.
An exciting area where we’re seeing strong results is in social learning, creating training and development programs that foster a sense of community and collaboration within learning environments, making spaces for learners to share ideas, inspire one another, and form connections that last. Through innovative group-based activities, interactive content, and peer-to-peer learning frameworks, we’re not just delivering content—we’re helping foster environments that build more cohesive and connected teams.
As we grow and expand our capabilities, we’re also looking for top talent to join our mission. We’re actively seeking individuals who are dedicated to excellence in client success and innovative learning design. If you know someone who might be a great fit, or if you’re looking for new ways to collaborate, please reach out. We are also delighted to offer opportunities for college interns. I had the pleasure of attending a mid-October career fair at The Ohio State University alongside our talented marketing intern and OSU athlete, Caroline Caudill. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with bright, engaged students and share insights into the career paths available at eLearningDOC!
We plan to keep the momentum going strong as we close out the year and look forward to exciting possibilities ahead!
Warm regards,
Angela

Harnessing Social Learning for Effective Training
By Kristen M. Stevenson, ABD
Social learning is a powerful tool that helps people acquire new skills, knowledge, and behaviors by observing and interacting with others. It starts when we are very young. Many first-time parents inadvertently encounter social learning. For example, a young child might refer to a parent by their first name because they often hear others doing so instead of using “Mommy” or “Daddy.” Children may also mimic hand gestures they observe in adults while driving or repeat age-inappropriate words in public. Adults also experience social learning; they might adopt a phrase commonly used by friends or learn a new technique for art, exercise, or cooking from a video.
Informal social learning constitutes nearly 75% of learning within organizations.
Psychologist Albert Bandurafirst studied social learning in the 1950s by observing how young children reacted to adult interactions with a Bobo doll. Social learning is a behavioral theory that suggests individuals learn new behaviors through observation and imitation. For instance, when adults laugh and encourage a toddler to repeat a foul word or make an obscene gesture, it reinforces that behavior, while correction can stop it. This creates a feedback loop where behaviors are either rewarded or punished accordingly.

At its core, social learning recognizes that people learn best from one another. It enhances training by shifting from isolated, self-directed learning to a collaborative environment, integrating peer-to-peer learning and coaching. By adopting social learning, you create a continuous, relevant learning experience that ensures learning is continuous, contextual, and deeply relevant to your company or organizational goals. Webinar Conversion: From recorded webinar to an interactive learning course!
You’ve created and hosted a webinar. Live participants enjoyed the event, learners were active, and content and delivery were successful. Now what?
Webinars are powerful tools and can be impactful for those attending live. Unfortunately, the shelf life for learners to watch a recorded webinar is only around ten days. A significant benefit of webinar content is its versatility. By harnessing that advantage, eLearningDOC is launching a program to customize your webinar into a high-quality course that allows your content to reach your audience in a long-lasting format.
Ensure your valuable content reaches learners long after the live event—reach out to Janet Staderman—to discover how we can transform your webinars into enduring courses!
